Fatal Error Deep in 10.00 + 1.00 MTT on UB
I have been kicking myself all weekend about this play. This is a construct from memory as I did not pull the hand history.
UB 10.00 + 1.00 [approx. 960 entries]. 14 players left. Table is 6 handed. Blinds 750/1500 and antes 100. Raven-Jackson BB (t30,000) UTG (xxx) UTG+1 (xxx) MP (t30,000) Button (xxx) SB (t13,000) Preflop: Raven-Jackson is BB with Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. UTG folds, UTG+1 folds, MP calls t1500, button folds, sb raises to 13,000 [all-in], Raven-Jackson calls [mistake #1], MP thinks, thinks, and calls [crap]. Flop: (t39,600) K, x, x (3 players) [crap again] Raven-Jackson bets t17,000 [all-in] [Mistake #2], MP calls. Turn: (t73,600) x (3 players all-in) River: (t73,600) x (3 players all-in) Now it doesn't take a genius to put the MP on a K and he turns up K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] to take the pot and put me out [sb had A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] and 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and did not improve]. As soon as MP called I knew I should have pushed all-in pre-flop. I was lulled into a sense of security because the table was playing really tight [lots of stealing from the button] and the MP had limped in to see the flop. In hindsight I think that my calling the sb pre-flop put the mp in a position where the odds dictated that he had to call. Am I right? Post-flop was pure stupidity, I was out of position and tried to take the pot. If I folded I would have had enough life to make the final table. Instead I am out in 14th. |
