Oakland fans are officially the worst
Watching the M's and A's last night on TV, Oakland fans were loudly booing Ichiro each time he came to the plate. Dave Neihaus (voice of the M's) said Oakland is the only road city that has booed him every at bat since he came to the major leagues.
I think A's fans must revel in their obnoxiousness. OK, if it's a team you're battling for a playoff spot, I can understand booing a star player. But I would think any decent fan at this point in the season would at least show some begrudging respect for Ichiro. Look at Braves fans earlier this year when Randy pitched his perfect game - they were on their feet cheering in the 9th, because they recognized they were witnessing history. I can't imagine attending a game where I might get to see a player break a 80+ year old record, and not at least show some respect for the player, even if he's on the other team. |
