Folding when knowing im 2nd best (lc)
Played a hand at Party a few days ago. Its from memory.
I had played with villian for 4 hours or so and he was the best kind of opponent you can get. Extremely loose, extremely passive. When he had something very good he had every time made a bet of about 1/2 pot. Not once during the section had he raised any-one without the nuts or close to it. He once called me down with K2 for his whole stack of 550 on the board KJxxx when I held three jacks. Villian had $295 when this hand started and I had him covered. 6-handed NL400 Villian calls UTG, 2 folds. I make it 20 on the button with AK. Flop: K 8 3 r Villian checks, Hero bets 45, Villian calls Turn: 8 Villian checks, Hero $100, Villian makes it $200. He had 30 left after his raise and I thought for a few seconds and pushed and he insta-called. River blanked and he scooped the pot with A8. In this hand I had a good hand, but knew to 99% I was beat, and pushed anyway. It felt just like I was just giving away $130 of my bankroll. Do you guys have any tricks to just muck in situations like these, even if you have a great hand and its pretty inexpensive to take a showdown? |
