Default Re: 5-10 NLHE

Unless you know the guy, and therefore KNOW that it's time to make a big laydown, this is an automatic call.

$1100 more to win $2700 in a spot where you could easily be virtually tied, or even a solid 2:1 favorite. Over the weighted range of hands that this player might have (assuming he's a typical 5,10 NLH player, whatever that is), getting 5:2 on this call makes it totally automatic.

Of course he could have a set, or two pair. Or a straight flush draw. But he might have simply an open-ended straight draw, a gutshot straight draw with two overcards, a flush draw with overcards, or any 1-pair hand where he thinks you might lay it down (maybe because he puts you on AK, maybe for other reasons).

Hope it worked out for the best.

Later, Greg Raymer (FossilMan)
