Re: I want Proof!
there's no proof but if you think about it around 10% of all long term poker players will be net positive whether by luck or by skill. Probably another 10% will be near break even. It has to be that way because its a zero sum game.

Re: Early Posts from Homer
LOL. I remember when I first started playing I used to think QTo was the greatest hand in the world And I absolutely hated raising my high pocket pairs, because I was afraid I was only going to lose more money and look foolish in the process. Whenever I start doubting myself I think back to how I used to think and play.

Re: I want Proof!
Read Davidross's posts about playing for a living, I think thats as close to proof as you are going to get (although I suppose he could just be making it all up and is actually a big loser)

Re: I want Proof!
I don't know if it's proof that I know anything, but I am winning playing poker on-line.
I started playing on-line in Sept last year. I put in $100, played mostly 1/2 (some 2/4) and built that up to about $1200 by the end of the year (Plus I pulled my $100 out). I didn't start keeping real stats until this year. This year, I'm making about 10.75/hr (3.7 BB/Hr at 2/4, 6.3 BB/HR at 1/2). Over all I'm up $575 in ring games and down about $60 in tourney play (had some tough tournies). It's not retirement money, and I know I'm probably winning at a higher rate currently than I can expect for the long run, but I am consistnently winning. Hoping to build one of my BRs (my total BR is spread across 4 sites) up big enough to start playing at 3/6 soon. Hoping to get up to 5/10 and then start actually having profit in my pocket to "buy the wife shiny things" (as she puts it). |
