Post HERE if you think Internet poker is dying/has died/will die
Okay, guys...here's the deal. It seems about a quarter of this forum is devoted to n00bs posting their latest scoop/theory/inside info as to the pending/current/recently past demise of profitable internet poker. While the Zoo is not my most-frequented forum on 2+2, I do like to check in at least once a day and see what's new...and when running well, this can be a very informative resource.
But when it's cluttered with so much crap, it becomes worthless. So I thought maybe I could start ONE thread that everyone could use for their doomsday theories/evidence so that it won't clutter up the rest of the forum. So...GO NUTS, guys. Tell us how/why/when it's all going to die. We'll all try to refrain from telling you that it's only because YOU'RE a losing player that you think this. This thread is for all of "you" that know the end is near. Have fun...but please use this thread instead of starting new ones! |

Its not going to die. Look at the gaming industry it just gets better and better each year. Also look at some of these online casinos market reports, they are making billions.

Sammy,
I think a downturn is inevitable (2 years). The industry hasn't grown nearly as much this year as it had in 2003 - 2004. Remember when party used to top out at 50K and then a year later it was hitting 80K? Well it's still at 80K tops a year later. |

Re: Post HERE if you think Internet poker is dying/has died/will die
The industry will never see the growth that it did in the last 4 years (at least, not in North America). Everyone who wanted to try it has at least downloaded a game or two and tried their hand at play or real cash.
The next hurdle (or speed bump) is the law. If the game becomes more legalized in the states, you'll see a new rush by big name companies to get in on the game. If the powers that be decided to clamp down on online gambling, then you'll see a bigger slowdown. As it stands now, the industry could stand to shed about 140 sites and lower its blood pressure a bit. =) |

Re: Post HERE if you think Internet poker is dying/has died/will die
If/when it is legalized in the US and land based casinos can get in on the action, there will be another rush as people who were on the fence previously will give these more "legitimate" US based sites a try.
