Re: turn donk bets always confuse me.. check this one out
I think it was Bison who posted a long time ago that limping pocket deuces UTG is +EV in most micro-limit games, so I don't see any problem with limping the pocket fives in MP3 here. I also totally disagree with raising pre-flop. I think that's just spewing trips and turns what is a marginally profitable (but still profitable) hand into a losing one long term.

[ QUOTE ]
Yah I dunno, I probably call those bets a lot more than I should.. I guess subconciously they just seem too suspicious to me. I'm slowly learning that 90% of the time it means that they have at least SOMETHING. [/ QUOTE ] What do you beat/draw to (other than your 2 outer) here? Easy fold as played. Also, checking the flop for a free card (5, 6, or 7) is a cheaper play as your raise isn't going to get 3 folds very often. |

Re: turn donk bets always confuse me.. check this one out
but it's NOT like 6-max though, the players aren't playing as if they're in a 6-max game. if it was, i'd imagine there would've been a raise behind (no way 6-max is this passive).
here's my reasoning behind a raise: 1. .5/1 are passive enough for them to fold behind you and steal blinds from MP 2. run through the lines OP posted and replace the PF with raise- you'll note that the UTG+2 will be unlikely to bet the turn (monster- he'll try to c/r, if nothing, he'll check), which means you'll get the river for free. for the half price. no donk bet. no headache. please note that i'm not advocating the raise here. i've never played .5/1 so I don't know how the game is. 2/4 is somewhat more aggressive enough that i'd usually just fold these from EP to MP with only 1 limper in front. i just think limping is not a good idea unless you can count on several other limpers behind you. |
