Default Well I flopped a boat HU how am I going to play it?

BB is a 16/8/2.3 TAG over a lot of hands.

I get 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] on the button and it is folded to me. I raise, SB folds, BB 3 bets, I call! Can I cap here?

Flop T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

BB bets, I???

I typically call and then raise his turn bet.

My thinking...

If he holds two high cards (say AK) he will probalby know he is beat on the flop and drop out on the turn.

If he holds a big pair (AA/KK/QQ, very likely in this scenario) he will probably call you down after you raise his flop bet, suspecting you perhaps have a T.

If you just call the flop bet it ensures you get 2 BB out of him on the turn when he bets as he will still probably call it down (assuming he doesn't catch his 2 outter or another T pops off and makes you cry).

Of course I'm a moron so this line could be retarded I dunno.

I raise the flop planning to just call a 3-bet so I can raise the turn. Let's hope villain has an overpair.

Preflop I just call
On the flop I call planning to raise on turn (or maybe river if you think he'll keep betting into you) The only hand he could have that beats you is pocket T's - I like your chances.

This is the line I use vs a tag. Someone slightly more passive and I'll just call the first bet and fire on the turn.

If he hadn't 3 bet pre flop, I'd just call looking to pop him on the turn or river. Since he 3 bet pre flop I think there's a good chance he re-raises your flop raise. If he does, I just call and then pop him on the turn.

And if he has overcards you only miss out on 1 SB as compared to waiting till the turn. Overcards aren't folding this flop, or the turn.

I think you should call his reraise preflop. His raise indicates legit strength. You could make a stronger case for capping if he were in the sb, but since a call could just close the action if he wanted, the 3 bet tells you he likely has a hand -- he is not trying to drive anyone out. I would raise the flop, hope he 3 bets, then call. I say this becuase I think a line of just calling the flop and raising the turn offers him a way out. This is the kind of raise (you would be making) that a TA player understands could indicate Ax, and he could likely 3 bet his AK, AQ, or overpair. Remember, second level thinking: what is his perception of you? Does he see you as the kinda guy that will raise Ax or 88 on this flop? If so, raise! He might even donk the turn.

Against a looser and weaker player a call, raise the turn line might be better. But against aggressive players you have to use thier aggression against them.
