Re: Could i have played this hand worse?
push over top of raise, against a jack it's still a coin flip but it will also put the hard decision on him.

Re: Could i have played this hand worse?
The benefits of an image play are that the bad players don't realize that you are actually a slight mathematical favorite against black AA. They just see that you played a draw very aggressively and will erroneously conclude that you are on a draw in the future when you make an aggressive play like this. If showing this hand down gets you a call from middle pair later when you're holding top set (or even just top pair), you are very happy. You made a slightly +EV play that enabled you to make a hugely +EV play later.

[ QUOTE ] As played, I like a call and go for a turn c/r all-in, [/ QUOTE ] Please tell me you're kidding. [/ QUOTE ] Only partly (I guess I misplaced the ). (BTW - I think your line is the most +EV, my line is really setting up a bluff -- Maybe I should have consulted with TWP before posting it ) First, I think folding is a good option starting pre-flop, but now you are in the soup, right? Going all-in on the flop screams draw and any decent villain with a decent holding will call. If the goal is to try to win the pot (not lose the minimum since folding to flop raise accomplishes that), then the c/r on the turn is powerful weapon in the arsenal. Put yourself in villain's shoes. Your flop raise is called, a blank hits the turn and now all of a sudden your opponent goes all in. Unless villain has a monster his only reasonable course is to fold. This line might get A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]x [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] to fold where it would call on the flop. Neither of our lines folds a set. For the sake of argument let's assume the only way hero is winning this hand is a stone cold bluff. How do you set it up and when do you execute it? |

Re: Could i have played this hand worse?
If hero calls the flop raise, there's $73 in the pot and about $65 behind. A checkraise on the turn folds nothing at all. Calling the flop and openpushing the turn is an option, but I like bet/3bet on the flop a lot more because then I get paid when I hit diamonds.

Re: Could i have played this hand worse?
Once you bet flop, 3 bet all in is only way to play it.
Once you play it this way your options on how to play other good hands changes significantly. You can now cr all in with a variety of hands that you think are ahead, and you no longer worry as much about the "only get called by a better hand" problem. |

Re: Could i have played this hand worse?
Yes the bet/raise all in line seems fine if button raises, but what if he don't?
Lets say the i bet 10 dollar on the flop and the button calls and SB folds. What is now my plan for the turn? |
