Re: Fantasy NBA Picks
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Vince Carter, Ron Artest. Ironically, I picked these guys by mistake with my first and second picks, but I think I may have made up for it by getting Webber much later than expected. [/ QUOTE ] What's wrong with Ron? He will put up incredible numbers IMO. Of course there's the psycho factor getting him suspended again but really... could that happen again!? [/ QUOTE ] No no, Ron is going to be a stud and I'm glad I got him. I picked him with the 12th or 13th pick though which is probably a full round higher than he should have gone. He's kind of a gamble, he could become a top ten player or he could just bust out. If he does what he did at the beginning of last year I'll look like a genius, but it would probably be smarter to spend your top picks on a surer thing. [/ QUOTE ] Grrreat first half. |

Use the tool at Basketball Monster to help your decisions. Make sure you don't draft guys who put up numbers in 'sexy' stat categories but kill you with turnovers, low fg%, etc (I'm talking to you, Steve Francis!). I was able to pick up Webber in the 8th round in my Yahoo league. After his monster game last night, that might not be possible. Donyell Marshall is always an efficient all around player, and will usually be available mid-late. Others in this category are Drew Gooden, Raef Lafrentz, and Shane Battier. [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: Fantasy NBA Picks
Hard to name sleepers because it depends on your opponents' home cities. First 3 picks are usually obvious. I stayed away from Marbury because I don't trust Larry Brown with fantasy players. For similar reasons you might like Detroit and Memphis players. My draft: which seemed good at the time but I now I have my doubts. 10-team league, I had first pick courtesy of winning the league last year:
1. Lebron 20. Baron Davis 21. Bosh 40. Maggette 41. Richardson 60. Odom (I'm happy with this one) 61. K. Thomas (I'm worried by his PT last night) 80. Nelson (didn't know he's not starting) 81. Hill (I like the idea of having him and a Magic player) 100. Dalembert 101. G. Wallace (lots of good categories 120. R. Davis (off to a great start, but T.J. Ford would have been a nice pick too). |

Jameer Nelson, NCAA player of the year two years ago. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, as I recall he had a big April. But he didn't start last night, even with Grant Hill out. What do you think of panicking and dropping him for TJ Ford? |

Re: Fantasy NBA Picks
Some guys that have shown they are worth more than their pre-season draft ranking displayed are:
Richard Hamilton -- huge points with the new flex offense Sam Cassell -- he's established himself as leader and is shooting a ton of shots Antoine Walker -- probably a fluke game but put up some great #'s Darius Miles -- probably another fluke game but had an insane line last night Gerald Wallace -- he was playing Chicago and is known to be streaky so take that into consideration Bonzi Wells -- Sacramento looks crappy and he had a ton of rebounds for them last night A guy you might want to avoid is T-mac. He is somewhat injured and a risk. |

Re: Fantasy NBA Picks
[ QUOTE ]
But why did you draft him with your 8th pick? I'm pretty sure he went undrafted in most leagues? [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I probably messed up. My list was a mixture of the Yahoo! default list and the top 100 of "Brandon Furston" on Yahoo!, whoever that is. He had Nelson at 60, and then I saw that another analyst had a positive commentary (15/5/5, 1.7 steals, and 48% shooting in April), and I remember wanting to pick him up last April, so I just went with it. But now I just discovered that this second source was same Brandon Furston, oh well. I just dropped Nelson for TJ Ford. My full composite list is below if anybody wants to make use of it. Disclaimers: (1) I don't vouch for it, I only spent a couple of hours on it, and I'm sure there are a lot of flaws and logical errors. (2) I didn't pay much attention to ranking early round players I definitely wasn't going to get with my draft position (Kirilenko, etc). (3) There's a secret sauce which I won't talk about, is relevant to everyone's leagues, and altered my rankings a little. (4) Also, turnovers are a category in my league. 1. L. James 2. K. Garnett 3. S. Marion 4. D. Nowitzki 5. T. Duncan 6. K. Bryant 7. D. Wade 8. T. McGrady 9. A. Kirilenko 10. S. Nash 11. G. Arenas 12. A. Iverson 13. J. Kidd 14. V. Carter 15. B. Davis 16. J. O'Neal 17. E.
