100 BB shot at 5/10
What do you think of the idea? If I lose the 100BB I'll still have a decent roll for 3/6. I can even think of going back to 2/4 if it doesn't work.
Any tips / things I should think of before starting to play? |

Re: 100 BB shot at 5/10
I'm currently taking the same shot(250bb). The best advice i can give is to datamine a little bit before you do, buddy all the super fish, and pick on them as much as possible. Make sure you post hands you had problems with. And if the games aren't any good (which probably won't happen but...) wait til they are.

Re: 100 BB shot at 5/10
I think the most important thing about moving up in levels is making sure you are ready to play at that moment when you try playing up. If you dont feel good, play your normal 3-6. If you are feeling un-lucky, play your normal 3-6. Only play higher when you are feeling & playing your best.

Re: 100 BB shot at 5/10
In general, 5-10 is tougher so make sure you scout well. I took a 100bb dib in my first week at 5-10 and I played through it, so be prepared for the possibility of being back at 3-6 minus your 100bb. Enjoy!

Re: 100 BB shot at 5/10
As other people said, if you are not feeling optimal (unlucky, tired, drunk) play 3/6. Also, play full ring 5/10 as it has less variance than short handed.

I did this and it worked for me. Play tight and limit variance and give it a shot.

Re: 100 BB shot at 5/10
Just make sure you play one game. I would not change my game any i.e don't play any tighter, play the same way that made you succed at 3-6. If you depend on "poker money" to live on I wouldn't take a shot until I had 200bb. Good Luck

If you are going to take a shot play normal and take advantage of all +EV situations. Don't try to play tight and limit variance, just play your normal game and see what happens. |

Re: 100 BB shot at 5/10
Play for a short while, lets say 30 minutes, evaluate your play honestly. If you are playing well proceed on, if not take a break and think about what you did wrong. I believe some people freak a little when stepping up in limits and don't play the same game that got them their.
good luck, |
