I just thought Poker Stars software was very slow. Their Customer Support may only have E-mail contact but they respond very quickly and aggressively address issues. The slowness issue, if not addressed, will hamper any climb to the top.

just going by the earliest memories i have of stars and the huge freebie population of the ship ladders or whatever...they still have some of them...but the numbers were huge for a few years ago.
A whole group of very low limit players were there and still are. |

party is by far the slowest site i play at. not the software really but the players playing slow either b/c of conections or maybe too many tables or what, but i get in far fewer hands per hour tourny or ring games at party than stars or other places

>Stars got started with a huge pool of micro limit tourney players...and they just don't move up...
Right now - 10:50 PM PT I see on Stars: $100/$200 Hold'em - 3 full tables $30/$60 Holde'em - 4 full tables $30/$60 Stud-8 - 2 full tables plus many other high pot and nolimit games. not exactly microlimit players. |

I think with the latest pokerstars promotion and the fact that they will be on WPT will help Stars grow even further.
Suprisingly I do not think they got that much free advertising out of Moneymaker winning the show, from what I can gather he never really got a mention until the last show (although I am only going on the reports on the shows that were posted on 2+2). I think if PokerStars back up the airing of the show with a decent deposit bonus then there could be a lot of fishies attracted to the site. Will it be enough to catch Party? I doubt it. Not yet anyway - but it will probably close the gap. My 2c Rom |

There was a tourney where two of the employee's were accidentally talking over the game instead of using internal chat.
They were both surprised that the Moneymaker effect was so big. Lori |

[ QUOTE ]
Come on get serious ICP..thats the crappiest poker software online bar none [/ QUOTE ] Hmm, I think the poker and casino softwares are very similar. Good looking but slow... They are way behind regarding tournaments and some features though, and that's what I implied when saying they have alot of money to make it better. I think ICP-software is better than looking than both Party and Prima. The ideal situation would be if all the fishies moved to Pokerstars or Paradise(if they get MTT's) whhich both have by far the best all-around platform. [ QUOTE ] I play at Party everyday .I am sick of these connectivity issues. The night of the $25K Freeroll the lobby was lagging ridiculously.Every 5-10 -15 minutes the remaing field was updated..really focking annoying if you are making a borderline decision and need current information on your position/etc. [/ QUOTE ] Yepp, the server and connection problems suck. Another reason to chose Stars instead. |

Party lobby tourny sucked during the $25k freeroll.
I had 7500 chips, dealt AJs and limped with 2 callers + BB called. J-rag-rag board, one spade. Blind was 1500. BB checked, I bet out 2000 leaving me with 4000 (top stack tourny-wide was 40k). MP raised to 3500, LP raised all-in (about 8000), BB folded. The lobby showed 91 players remaining (80th is in-the-money). I desperately searched all the other tables to see if someone would get eliminated where the dealer chat would show what place they finished. Couldn't find any current info.... if I folded I would have enough chips to last through one more set of blinds and another BB... would be all-in on the SB of the second orbit. Since I could not get current info, I folded, wanting to make sure I would be in-the-money at a minimum. Turns out I would've been in the money. If I'd known that I would've called all-in. Two more rags came on turn and river. MP had JTo and LP had TT. I had best hand with top pair A-kicker. I ended up limping my way into a mere $50 win... where if I'd known I was already in the money I would've went all-in and would've had second highest stack with around 32k. Oh well.... |

I'll put $100 down on Stars. With these conditions:
If on 4/20/04 (hehe...420) at noon EDT the Poker Pulse Stars real money (both ring + tourney) 24hr peaks are greater than Party's, you will pay me $200. If not, I will pay you $100. If by some chance they tie, or Poker Pulse is gone, the bet is null and void. If this sounds good to you, I'd be willing to send my $100 to a mutually trusted middleman. This middleman could also mediate any unforseen disputes that come up. Let me know if you want to give this a go. |
