extracting the max. or FPS?
Had a bad beat last night when my set lost to a runner-runner and it made me question how I played it. Advice on all streets appreciated.
PP 5-10 (10 handed) MP is moron, limps w/j6o, (VPIP 73%, WTSD 48%), Button is VPIP 35% HERO is UTG+1 w/8h8d 1 fold, Hero limps, 2 folds, MP raises, button coldcalls, BB calls, Hero calls 4 players, 8.4 sm. bets FLOP: 8s 4d 2h bb checks, hero checks, MP bets, button calls, bb folds, hero raises, MP calls, button calls 3 players, 7.2 big bets TURN: Ah hero checks, MP bets, button calls, hero raises, MP calls, button calls 3 players, 13.2 big bets RIVER: 3h hero bets, MP raises, button 3-bets, hero folds, MP calls MP has Ad5h for a straight and button has Th9h for a flush My 2 main questions: Was check raising the turn good, I figured MP would bet even w/o an ace Was the button correct to call the 1st flop bet, w/backdoor flush, backdoor straight and possibly 2 live overs? Thanks in advance. |

Re: extracting the max. or FPS?
Your turn play is too fancy in my opinion, you could have just bet out. As it turns out, you got lucky that the button didn't take the free card.
And someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I do think that the button was right on calling the original flop bet, and that calling your raise after is an easy call. |

Re: extracting the max. or FPS?
Flop looks good. I don't like the turn. Your check-raise of the flop means a made hand on this drawless board. The A is more likely to hurt you than help you, so bet out, hoping to get raised (by the PFR, perhaps) so that you can 3-bet.
Also, include PFR% with the VPIP. Without the results, we wouldn't know how aggressive he is. Last, don't post results-- they potentially skew responses. |

[ QUOTE ]
Was check raising the turn good, I figured MP would bet even w/o an ace [/ QUOTE ] The flop c/r was nice, but after that, being out of position you want to play it fast. The A is a great card for you, because you'll likely get more action on it, but in case they decide to play their TP passively (this is where knowing their aggro factors would help), you want to extract the most you can. 2 Check-raises in a row is only to be used in, I think, extremely rare circumstances. |

Re: extracting the max. or FPS?
You need to lead the flop unless your sure MP2 will bet once you've C/R the flop.
As the button with a terrible player and a pot now unlikely to get raised, I'd probably peel here as there is no indication my T or 9 are potential outs. It's a close call though. |
