That's why there should probably be a "neither," as well as a listing of the defendants' crimes. It wouldn't take the mean-spiritedness out of it entirely, but would provide context. I think how mean it is depends highly on who is chosen to be in contests. I'm assuming [censored] will have good reason for his choices,but like I say, I'm taking it on a case by case basis. If someone goes out of his way to be a jerk, I honestly think they'd be the last one either surprised at a banning or having their feelings hurt by one. If done right, the only people in the contests would be the people who were practically begging to be there. Which pretty much eliminates the meanness factor. That's the thing -- there's a difference between real and theoretical meanness. As completely stupid as that probably sounds, it's true. |
