Best book for NL$100s?
Hi,
Could anyone tell me what the best book (besides TTOP) would be most suited for the NL100 tables please? Thanks! |

"Reading/posting on these boards liberally will be best though."

im suprised no one has said Supersystem. i like it. i am pretty eclectic though so i think everyone should read it along with TOP, hold'em for advanced players and rueben and ciaffone...

I think Vol. 1 of HOH is pretty good for SSNL. But I'm pretty bad at SSNL.

Re: Best book for NL$100s?
I dont understand why people like Super System. Doyle teaches super arrgessive play so he can make negative EV choices because he is "freerolling" with all the pots he scooped with CBs. This makes no sense to me, because if you just play super aggro and pick up the pots anyway, without blowing chips on gutshots, he would have higher EV.
It also says nothing about pot odds or implied odds or anythhing important. And he believes in ESP. my two cents |

Re: Best book for NL$100s?
I didn't understand it at first either. By taking the worst of it on those "freerolls" he is really helping his metagame. His opponents will respect his play much more. They're not going to raise him out of pots as much because they know he'll push with only an inside straight draw or something like that.
Believe me, I had the same though as you. Wouldn't he make even more money if he didn't make those -EV plays? In the short term yes, but his opponents would catch on and his metagame would suffer. And keep in mind, much of the advice in SS doesn't apply to us. Low limit online poker players don't pay attention to their opponents, so need to worry about metagame. |
