Evaluating quality of threads
There has obviously been a lot of controversy regarding what consitutes a dumbass/lame/retarded/stupid/worthless/etc thread and what makes for a good thread. I would like to help out those who are wondering about this.
I have been going through some of the threads and providing an evaluation of the thread along with an explanation as to why it is evaluated as such. I'm going to start posting the evaluations here. If there's a specific thread you would like an opinion on, please feel free to request it here. (more detailed evaluations are posted in the threads linked below) Good, but a little risky, parking poll Good thought-provoking thread Fun Saturday thread that would have been dumb if just anecdote dumbass post/poll Interesting anecdote leading to good discussion |

Re: Evaluating quality of threads
In your opinion.
That's great that you enjoy those, but who are you to tell me what to like or dislike or to determine for me what is 'good' or not? |

In your opinion. That's great that you enjoy those, [/ QUOTE ] I did not enjoy all of those threads that I said were non-dumbass posts. [ QUOTE ] but who are you to tell me what to like or dislike or to determine for me what is 'good' or not? [/ QUOTE ] I am not telling you what to like or dislike, but as a general answer to your broader question - someone who is much smarter than you and possesses much better judgement. |

Re: Evaluating quality of threads
I think that this is a terrific idea. However, I think that it's important that we know [censored]'s feelings on this and, and hear his justification for what would make a post either acceptable or unacceptable.
FWIW, ElD, of all the people who are supporting [censored] in this, I think that you have been by far the best in justifying your viewpoint. |

Re: Evaluating quality of threads
PoBoy, I could say the same wrt your opposition. I think you are a little too pessimistic, but you have argued your case intelligently and reasonably. That is why I don't see people responding to your posts saying "you should be banned, dumbass."
I believe [censored] has given us enough to go by: [ QUOTE ] A few examples? Well let's say someone comes up with a really good thread idea for the day, or a question dealing with some form of sexual behavior. This is not your license to then extrapolate on that one thread of make a bunch of new threads all slightly different but infinently worse. Also finding some stupid 5 year old pic with not so cute little tag is not a reason to start threads, neither is half the other crap some of you think is funny. For god's sake people if you are going to make a poll, do it correctly and have real options. SIIHP - It needs to stop. Those who start threads will be judged more harsly than those who just reply. Those posters who are strictly OOT will be judged more harsly than those who are not. [/ QUOTE ] [censored] has also responded to a couple of more generic posts of mine in agreement that he's just trying to reduce the amount of lame, dumbass crap that gets posted here. Already, there have been dissenting comments re: SIIHP, and I believe [censored] will take those into account, as he has taken into account other dissenting feedback. I agree that SIIHP, like many other things here such as gimmick accounts, is something that is funny when used sparingly and appropriately. |
