Default Sheesh! Look at all them clubs!

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ Hero (6 max, 5 handed) converter

Villain had been pushing people around, often putting people all in on the turn with garbage. The thing is, he would often fold the minute his opponent showed strength. I wanted to trap him, but I also needed to protect my set.

What's my move here?

MP ($35.25)
Button ($24.05)
SB ($36.42)
Hero ($18.63)
UTG ($40.65)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.10.
UTG calls $0.25, MP calls $0.25, 1 fold, SB (poster) raises to $1.9, Hero calls $1.75, UTG folds, MP calls $1.75.

Flop: ($6.25) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB bets $4, Hero...

Make it ~$12 to go, and re-evaluate to a 3-bet.

That makes it an even easier all-in. He should call with a wide range of hands, the rest is up to chance.

Very easy:
1) Pick up 4 blues
2) Announce "Raise"
3) Make one stack of 4 blues
4) Put the rest of your chips to the side of this pile
5) Shove them and say, "I'm all in bitches!"

With only $18 in the stack you can call once and pray the turn isn't a non-pairing [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. With a deeper stack a raise to $14 or something like that would have been the better move.

Push, if the worst comes to the worst and you get called by a flush you have outs.

I'm with this. You don't really have much room to play with in you chip stack.

I think sometimes in poker you just have to bite the bullet and push your chips in. At this point in the hand, I would mentally commit all of my chips to this hand, even if you call here and a club hits the turn. My assumption is that he will call your allin here with ANY club, so you are not going to be able to "protect" your hand on the flop here. I think a better move is to just call, hoping that he will continue betting on the turn, probably putting you allin. Think of this one in terms of game theory, if he has the club (and a club hits the turn, he'll have you beat obviously), but he wouldn't have folded on the flop anyway, so you lose regardless. If he doesn't have a club (whether or not a club hits the turn), he'll probably continue to bluff the turn putting you allin. You gain value here by allowing him to continue bluffing, where you may have made him fold a hand that could be drawing dead on the flop.

If he were the type that would fold to an allin with say the 10 or J of clubs, then I'd say push on the flop. Assuming he's the typical loose/aggressive idiot, tell yourself that you are not folding your hand on the turn NO MATTER WHAT, and hope for the best.

Just push. It looks like desperation. Fast-playing is the new slowplaying.
