PF question, raising after posting
You post in the CO and get dealt 65s. Assuming ~50+VP$IP limpers, how many limpers before you raise this? I'd raise it when it's neutral EV just for the "advertising" value, (this was a live game) but I'm not sure how many limpers before it's neutral.

Re: PF question, raising after posting
I'm not sure about the EV and when it's neutral, but I'd feel comfortable after 4 limpers, 3 if I'm feeling extra saucy. Being how you posted in the CO, probably your first hand and not sure of the blinds, but If I thought they'd call I'd try it with 3 limpers.
I doubt this is the answer you're looking for, but my thought on the matter. |

Re: PF question, raising after posting
I think you're about 4-1 to flop at least a straight or flush draw... So, 4?

Re: PF question, raising after posting
Using Pokerstove, 65s goes from preflop equity goes from - to + when against 4 to 5 random hands. I think 65s gains the majority of it's equity in these games, though from postflop especially when you're in position. I personally don't think you want to be raising here b/c you are decreasing your implied odds. Plus, you're only showing this hand down maybe 1/5 times so why advertise with it?

Re: PF question, raising after posting
For 65s, I'd rather have 8 players see the flop for 1 bet, than 4 for 2. Plus by raising, I reopen the action for the whole table to 3-bet/cap me.
Occasionally I'll find myself at a table where I think there are enough players paying attention to make an advertising play worthwhile. This almost never happens to me though, live or online. And I'd need a read that it would be worthwhile before I'd do it, which pretty much eliminates me doing it at a table where I've just posted. The only value I think this might have is buying me the button on subsequent rounds. I just don't think it's worth it at the games I play. There are scenarios where I'd raise with this, but this isn't one of them. |

Re: PF question, raising after posting
I'd raise zero limpers with any 2 here, but otherwise I'm checking this.

[ QUOTE ]
I'd raise zero limpers with any 2 here... [/ QUOTE ] I've heard this idea before, and I think it's similar to the idea that you should raise any two cards if you have the button, zero limpers and a poster in the CO checks to you. What's the idea behind this? Is it that, if one person calls, you're risking 2SB to win 3.5SB and you're rarely that much of a dog (with your position)? If two people call, it's not so good though, right? Does the idea not apply from the SB (no position)? And, in your situation, you're actually advocating doing it from the CO. So here you're only risking 1SB to win 3.5SB if someone calls, but the button might call (meaning no position for you). Still, much better odds... Wow, I think I just answered my own questions. So, uh, thanks. (but clarify it if I'm crazy, please) |

Here's a link to an old thread of mine with links to threads from posters who actually know something on the subject.
