WTH in 3/6 is it with the players?
1st I went through the period of super bluffers...
Next it was super LAGers. Now a new breed of player is emerging. The one whos stats look right but they play wrong. What gives? They play hands in the groupings but not in the right position. Reraise and call down when its almost obvious to fold. The call then if I raise preflop they fold with 4 people already in the pot ?!?!?! Its like the stats are right VPIP 14-20, PRF 5-14, TAF 1.5-3.5 but they are not good. Half the time there is one stat that is off by a bit. Too much VPIP or PFR, or too little TAF. Are these new players that just picked up a book and half ass read it? Or watched their friends win at .5/1 1/2 and then decided to give 3/6 a shot? |

Stats are nice, but do not rely too heavily on them. The best thing to do is to keep a watchful eye.

I do I do I do. Just amazes me these players almost have my stats and I clobber them.
I wonder if its because they are more predictable and weak. Since they kinda follow starting hand requirements by their bet and raise I can usually put them on the right hand. Then if they meet opposition they fold their hand which might be best. I try to be intraspective to what goes on in these player's minds when I was at that level. |

Just because a person plays a Tag style doesn't mean his postflop skills are any good.
It's very easy to get tagish stats pf and suck postflop. Postflop is where the money is amde anyway |

Re: WTH in 3/6 is it with the players?
Yea I'm finding out post flop is where it is. I am reading Tao of Poker and there was one satement in there that hit me.
It says bascially "look at the player you fear the most and think about the thinks he does that makes him a tough opponent. Aspire to become that player..." I thought of LAGs that play well. Mostly applies to no limit for me. The LAGs at limit are easier to play. Got a reasonable hand? Call him down. Most of their skills are post flop. And at the time of the reading is when I thought of these 3/6 players. It kind of all pieced together in one thought process. |

Re: WTH in 3/6 is it with the players?
One thing to consider is if these players are multi-tabling or watching TV or browsing the net at the same time as they are playing poker. Then they will know which hands to play and how to play them pre-flop. This is easy, and this is how they made it to 3/6.
However, if they don't know how to play concentrated post-flop, they will lose. |

True, distractions really do affect your game. Even if you make 2 mistakes an hour that can cost you quite a bit. Like forgetting which player raised preflop or missing a key hand X player was in that would tell you a bit about his play. I just put on techno music and play 4 tables. Helps me focus. No surfing the boobie sites either while I play
