Default have 100 bucks, need help gtting started

I have 100 bucks and am new to onlinepoker. I have played some freerolls and some play money stt's to get a feel for it and the pace. What is the best way to invest my 100 dollars online. I have played NL almost exclusively in my poker career and have made some good money playing live poker and i really would like to try my luck at online stt's. what site should i use what stakes should i play at, etc. i know it will be awhile with 100 bucks before i really start making my time worthwhile but i would like a little advice getting started.

$5 SNG's, or the smallest NL table you can find. Do not move up for a while.

yeah, i would highly recommend stts. start at the 5s and like the guy above said, take your time. it will take a lot of patience in both the actual games and in your general bankroll buildup.

read the 1 table tournaments forum as much as possible because the strategy necessary is so much different than any other type of holdem, imo.

My fist question would be how much are you net up from your live play? You should have a seperate set of books and probably more than $100 to invest from prior winnings.

That said if you're determined to invest no more than $100 I actually suggest learning limit hold-em or seven card stud and playing 25/50 cent hold em or baby stud.

I actually started at Paradise Poker a few years ago playing the no-ante 25 cent bring in seven stud game. After a lot of patience I moved over to hold em, gradually moved up limit and have made over $30K.

If no-limit is your thing I'd opt for the $25 NL cash games on the Party skins. This is risky as you're putting down 25% or your bankroll on the line but you'll have a good chance if you're patient.

Good luck!

1. Find a site that has a good deposit bonus, such as party poker or one of their skins...you might even want to sign up for rakeback if you plan on playing a good amount. Stretch that 100 bucks as far as it goes.

2. Playing 5 stt's with a 100 bankroll is ok, as it gives you a little room for variance. You might even want to play lower buy in stt's at first, such as 1-3 dollar buys ins till you get the hang of online play.

3. As for NL cash games, i'd start out as low as possible. It's better to do that and build your bankroll slowly than to blow your money playing out of your roll.

I'm thinking you might have too small a roll for $5 SNG. I think the standard roll for SNG is 50-100 entries for the limit you want to play. If I was you I'd look into some of the sites that offer $.75-$2 SNGs, Party/Empire does not have SNGs below $5. royal vegas comes to mind they have SNGs as low as $.75 and a deposit bonus. The SNGs there are pretty loose with the low buy-in. check out www.bonuswhores.com for a listing of what games, bonuses and a general idea of the difficulty of the games. You will also want to signup to sites using a rake back service, they don't always pay on STT/MTT, but once you open an account at a poker site you can't set it up later. Also I have been checking out the freerolls on bonus whores and placed a few times ITM(in the money), free money and play against 2k+ people will help you hone your skills and it's free. I think in the SNG Faq there is a link to a free SNG stat analysis program, this can tell you how good you are really doing over all on SNGs and the price is right.

If you play STT's, don't play on Party or one of it's skins. Play on a site that has 10% rake for the $5 SNGs such as Stars or PokerRoom.com.

As for the NL25 games, I'm not a huge fan of playing those with a $100 roll. That's only 4 buy-ins and it's not beyond reason that a run of negative variance could hit you and wipe you out, even if you are playing very well.

I'd say limit ring or low buy-in STTs would be the way to go for now.

Edit: Probably intuitive, but whichever game you decide to play at first, read and post hands on the appropriate forum on 2+2. This site is probaby more useful than you realize.

When I started I only had $20. I used Blue Square or one of the other skins on that network. They have very low limit ring games and tournaments and a low rake. Also if you like tournaments you get 2000 chips to start with.

Never play a $5 sit-and-go. The rake will eat your soul. Nobody will be able to hear you scream.
