Second hand of live 2-table tourney. 50+10 buy-in. Top 4 spots get money.
I am dealt A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG+1. Blinds are at 50/100 and everyone has a stack of 5,000 or so. I open-raise for 300 to go. Folded to the BB who calls. Flop: T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] BB checks. I bet out 300. BB min-raises to 600. What's your play here? I'll respond with what I did and reveal more cards as needed. |

I am only worried about pocket 8's here and there is no way he raises your bet of 300, after flopping a boat. If he has a ten, fantastic as the implied odds are very likly the rest of his stack. You have even odds to make this call, if you think your A or K are outs, you even have better odds. Some might say push, but there is no reason to do that here as you have a nice servicable stack. I say call this bet, see a card and re-evaluate

His range is JJ-KK. I think JJ & QQ are likely holdings, as kings is reraising you pre.

I'd call with them pot odds, check on turn if a blank falls.

Of those hands, I actually think he might be more willing to smooth call AA and KK and reraise with JJ and QQ. Given your play, I'll post a turn card in like 20-30 minutes... stick around. |

Alright, I thought this hand was more interesting than it is apparently.
I, stupidly, went all-in. No need to comment on that play, I know it was terrible. Let's say you smooth call the raise of 300 because you have at least 9 outs here. Turn: K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 1) BB checks. What's your move? 2) BB leads out for 600-700. What's your move? |

I put in a bigger bet, about 3/4 of the pot. If I get called, I know I am done with the hand, while getting out with some FE left.

sorry kramer, got pulled to a meeting.
yes, if bb checks, i am betting 3/4 of the pot. if called, I'm more than likely done with the hand on the river if bb bets 600 or so. I am calling... pot odds alone. Some might re-raise... smelling weakness, but it doesn't look he's going anywhere, and you want some FE left when the hands through. |

Turn: K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 1) BB checks. What's your move? [/ QUOTE ] Pot is roughly 1800, you have 4100 in your stack. I put in about a 1/2-3/4 pot bet. Make the numbers round and say 1100. If he calls, I plan to check anything but the FH or flush on the river. If he raises, I'm done right here. [ QUOTE ] 2) BB leads out for 600-700. What's your move? [/ QUOTE ] I'm smooth calling that. We're either well ahead or well behind here, and it costs too much to find out which it is. See what the river brings, and make your decision based on that card and his lead. That may be too weak-tight, but it is what I would likely do. I'd love to hear other commentary. |
