Your Thoughts On This Hand - Opp. River Bets All In
$20 tournament on Stars. No read worth mentioning on villan. 880 started, 300 are left. Average stack roughly 4,000. What should I have done here? Why? Where did I play the hand bad? What did he have?

If you`ve been this aggressive with draws all tourney, its no wonder he`s calling you down on that flop. |

Re: Your Thoughts On This Hand - Opp. River Bets All In
I have no idea and neither do you because you never gave him a chance to give you information. You built a huge pot out of position without any information on your opponent's holding.
In this situation I would suggest checking the turn, to keep it small and let you see how he reacts. Lead the river if he checks behind. I would call a reasonable turn bet and possibly lead the river depending on what comes. To answer your question: You are getting 3-1 to call, so if there's a reasonable chance he's on a busted flush, you should. Honestly, with no read I don't know what he has. My best reasoning suggests he would raise a set on a draw-heavy board; he probably doesn't call bottom pair twice (unless he has a good redraw like Ah2h). I think a lone four, five, seven, or other PP would be happy to check behind and show it down. A busted draw might bluff. After reasoning it out there, getting 3 to 1, I probably call knowing there's a good chance I lose. Still, the odds are favorable, there is a substantial possibility he's on a bluff, and at this stage, 2500 isn't a great spot to be in relative to 1500. I'd rather shoot for the 7k stack so I'm comfortable for a while and I can bully around the table if MP1 is not in the hand. Boy, I wish I had the time to reason through hands that well when I was actually faced with decisions. |
