Re: 20-40 Party, 5-handed KQs
I don't normally play this the way stox does but to tell the truth, when he plays something differently from me I get very nervous.
I mostly bet this turn thinking: 1. want to make him pay to draw for flush 2. the ace might scare him as much as me 3. he might have a wide range of open raising hands that include many gutshot combos My problem is I don't know well how to deal with turn raises because you see so many turn semibluff raises I get stuck calling down a decent amount. |

Re: 20-40 Party, 5-handed KQs
I'm wondering if people dont find this thread interesting OR some just don't have a strong opinion on what is correct. I like my turn check but would love to hear other poster's thoughts.
Obviously if villain is on a flush draw a turn bet is correct, but otherwise I think a turn check is right. net/net I like the check. |

Re: 20-40 Party, 5-handed KQs
This thread belongs in HUSH, but whatever...
stox is dead on imo, someone keen enough to be 3-betting 66 on the turn with overs might just be keen enough to raise KQ/JJ when that A hits after you get 'scared'. You don't want to get pushed off this hand and he might be aggro nuf to bet his queens/other PP for you. The question is does he value bet a non ace on the river? I would guess that leading any club/q/k might be a good idea on the river as he will pay off with a worse hand. But I dunno, i probably wimp out and check/call again. |

Re: 20-40 Party, 5-handed KQs
I typically check there. Against players who love to bluff raise the turn with aces on board I might actually be more apt to bet because maybe they'll go off for 2-3 more bb in a pot they're way behind. A lot of times they're also the type that will just call when they actually hit that ace so if they call the turn i'll def not bet the river. Probably check call.
Oh and I'm calling this down like every time. |

What do you do on the river if the turn goes check-check?

Re: 20-40 Party, 5-handed KQs
Okay well I feel better after this series of posts.
In the actual hand I checked. He checked behind. I checked the river intending to checkraise. Had he bet the turn I was calling down both streets, but I don't know if this is correct. I would have checked to him on the river no matter what hits, even if the flush card hits I think I lose money betting out the river (after a turn bet), I really think trying to induce another bluff is the only way to salvage anything. -Michael |
