Re: Standard?
I think your ahead here becuase I dont think the villian would open raise with those low pockeet pairs for a set, I also dont see the villian smooth calling with aces after someone else called. I'd call thinking I was ahead.

Re: Standard?
i don't like raising preflop, i want his QQ/JJ to stay in
and it's a disaster if he pushes preflop with QQ/JJ and i fold getting ~ 3-1 on my money |

Re: Standard?
Didnt see it was the cold caller who raised. im really torn in this hand now, some palyers will call thatm uch with a low pp trying to hit a set, or he could have tt-qq. Id rather get my money in than have no idea were i am on a q high, jack high, or ace high flop.

Re: Standard?
5/10 rule is that you should call a raise with speculative hands if the price is less that 5% of your opponents stack (or your stack if you do not cover). You should fold if price is greater than 10%.
In this case, the price is almost exactly 10% of what we stand to win if we stack the opponent. This is a special case though - we are not trying to spike a set against a raiser who might have a mediocre hand and so might not pay us off when we hit; we can be unusually confident here that we will get paid off. In fact, we need only 7:1 for a set, and if we stack villain we are getting 10:1, so we actually only need to stack villain two times of each three we hit a set to make the call +EV. Sounds likely. |

Re: Standard?
Is it really 7:1 spiking a set on the flop? To tired to calculate it myself, but aren't 7:1 the odds for spiking a set after seeing both the flop, turn and river?

Re: Standard?
i was under the impression it was indeed about 7:1, maybe a touch more (7.2:1 or something)
a set by the river is ~4:1 i believe |
