Re: $200 PLO8 hand
I'd fold. He has a full house, perhaps even a straight flush. You beat 98/J8, but both of these hands are unlikely to call a preflop raise. Even if he's capable of playing back at you, this looks like a poor spot to pick him off.

Re: $200 PLO8 hand
Unless your balls have been cut off, you can't fold the river. He very well could have JJ, but he could also have 8J, 8T. If it was me, there's a reasonable chance it's a bluff. He could have a straight flush, but I'd worry about that as much as quads. Call and hope for the best.

Re: $200 PLO8 hand
Fold? are you [censored] kidding me? That cracked me up. No I was trying to decide if he could've played JJ or str flush that way. In the end, I decided it was unlikely but I wanted to see a showdown and didnt' think I could call a re-reraise, so I just called. He turned up J8, as we thought.
I just wondered if I should have been pissed at myself for not raising, since I would've definitely gotten paid off... thought maybe everyone here would tell me I have to raise and I could feel stupid. Guess I played it OK. |

Re: $200 PLO8 hand
Nah, on that board and with those stack sizes, a call is probably best. It's too likely he could be playing JJ and be scared of the flush until the river. I'd be more likely to raise if it would set one of you all in. I really want to see a showdown.

Re: $200 PLO8 hand
Put him on a hand. If he’s got the boat, then
89 2 ways 8T 6 ways 8J 6 ways Net, 10 ways you are ahead TT 3 ways JJ 3 ways 88 1 way Net, 7 ways you are behind. There is an extremely small small chance that guy plays the straightflush like that. There is a small chance he bluffs with 8xxx or something here. And you are getting an overlay with pot odds. So, against someone 1) squeaky tight who would not raise with 8J type hands, I’d fold 2) loose but decent who would raise with those hands but fold to reraise, I’d call. This is my default. 3) loose and bad who will call with 8J hands, I’d raise. Having played with that guy, I think raising might be most correct, but I’d probably call in the end and would only fold if I had badly misplaced my balls. --Greg |
