Default new breed???

anyone see the new breed of players 3 betting/capping preflop with trash then playing super agressively on the other streets with absolutely nothing. Its not every hand they do this and coincidenally it creates a lot of action for them on other hands.

Wow I'd never considered this.

I have heard a couple of players mentioned that they'd read that book (i.e. that was the *only* poker book they'd read)

I will now withdraw and consider whether Mr. Hellmuth has unleashed a blessing or a curse on us...

a quick glance of mason malmuth's review of the book in the Books/Software section shows exactly how awful his limit holdem advice is to the beginning player.

i do agree that the rest of the book isn't terrible for introducing players to games, although i was amused by hellmuth's razz advice on jamming with a slightly better starting hand heads-up (in order to prevent him from deciding to fold on a later street), which directly contradicts with david sklansky's superior advice to keep the pot small and outplay your opponent.

The type of players you're talkign about i've seen a lot on 10 20 and 15 30 at partypoker. At first glance i thought they were bad players, but their play seems to be constantly changing, and it makes hard to put them on a hand. They could be raising utg with AA or 2 7 os, I would normally think that this is characteristic of a maniac, but they seem to win a lot. Is this a new form of poker, or good strategy in any way? I've found that the 5 10 games there are a lot more stable, and the wins are much more consistent. any feedback would be greatly appreciated. The games i'm talking about are SH games as well.
