This is the structure of a new home game i've been playing. The hosts follow this structure very religously and refuse to change it.
Every player starts of 2500 in chips. Blinds start at 25/50 and double every 40 minutes. There are usually between 6-9 players. With the exception of one LAG, the players all play pretty tight so what usually happens is by level 3(100/200) there's one player with a big stack, another with a decent stack and everyone else is under 10/BB. Then it turns to a all in fest. I'm not a huge fan of this structure but i can't them to change it, what does everyone think. |

It could be a lot worse. I know a guy who starts the blinds out at 25/50 with 2000 chips, and the blinds go up every 15 minutes. At least you get some play time with 40 minute levels.

At one of my games, we generally start out with 5000 in chips. Start the blinds at 25/50 and double them every half an hour. Games usually last about 3 hours and we play 2 a night.

I know a a game that starts with T500, with blinds of 5/10, and a 5 ante. Blinds double everytime someone is knocked out. This is about as bad as it gets.

unless you're first or second, don't be afraid to push in level 2. If you are 1st or 2nd, stay away from fights until level 3.

I ususally cringe whenever I see blinds doubling, unless it's the first blind increase. However, I guess it's okay if these guys have forty minute levels.
Personally like smoother increases with slightly faster increases. I'd go 25/50, 50/100, 75/150, 100/200, 150/300, 200/400, 300/600, 400/800, etc. with 20-30 minute long levels. |

Here is a structure I use for $20 games (which last about 2 hours) We can fit in 3 game in 1 night)
Starting Chips: 4000 - 15 min levels 25/50 50/100 75/150 100/200/25 200/400/50 300/600/100 400/800/100 500/1000/200 800/1600/300 1000/2000/500 1500/3000/500 2000/4000/1000 Sometimes, we do 1 big $60 buy-in tourney.. this format lasts about 5 hours with 7 players, add 30 minutes for each player after that: Starting Chips: 20000 - 30 minute levels 100/100 100/200 200/400 200/400/100 300/600/100 400/800/100 500/1000/200 800/1600/300 1000/2000/500 1500/3000/500 2000/4000/1000 3000/6000/1000 4000/8000/1000 5000/10000/2000 |

Wow, 40 minutes??? I was at one like that once with blinds up every HOUR, and it was brutal. I definitely agree that the structure should change- 15 minute blind increases to start.
