was reading new bluff mag this morning, and in the railbird section they mentioned that Gus has been noticably absent from WSOP events this year, and that it might be because he was rumored to have lost his BR in big side games at last years WSOP (ie. he's broke).
Pretty tough for major mag to imply this without proof.. |

I skimmed through bluff while takin a crap at Bay101 the other night. As far as poker rags go, Bluff is pretty good.

I doubt Gus wouldn't be able to find backers.

he was too busy playing in the $4,000-$8,000 game the whole time i was in vegas during the WSOP. i think one needs a pretty nice bankroll for that.

Not from what I saw when I was in Vegas about two weeks ago. Cruising around the Bellagio card room I saw Gus, Doyle, and Sammy Farha all sitting together playing in the big game. It was pretty cool to be able to see them all sitting there playing.

He played in the $10K PLO event, but I don't think there were any others. He didn't play any of the prelims in 2004.
