Default O8 $10 SnG\'s

For a change of pace, I played a few $10 LO8 SnG's on Party this weekend.
Out of 9 tourneys, I cashed in 6 of them (1 first, 3 seconds and 2 thirds for +$81).

The play in these tourneys looked incredibly soft, with all kinds of cabbage being played, and very poorly at that. It seemed that one can just sit and fold non ABC hands for the first four rounds and be left with a medium stack and hammer the remaining 5 or 6 leftovers when the blinds get to the 100/200 level.

I know it's a miniscule sample, but is this terrible level of play normal at the $10 level??? Is it similarly poor at the $20 and $30 tourneys??? It was my first foray into the tourney games, and I'll be trying the higher levels if the feedback to this post is promising!

I hope it wasn't just a good weekend!

I think your observations about the softness of the $10 LO8 SNG`s are correct. A good and tight player has a huge advantage in these games, unlike the pot-limit sng`s at party which are basically a lottery..

Unfortunately there are no $20 ones and the $30 sng`s are not as soft as the $10 i believe.. (have only played a few of those $30 ones, so i cant really tell..)

LOL...I haven't played that many PL08 SNG's, but I've cashed in every single one I've ever played in. I don't play at Party, though, I play at TruePoker...and PL08 SNG's are few and far between at True so my sample size is all of 10 SNG's or so.

I've found that most of the SNG's at True have 5 players who are dead money, and 5 who are mediocre to good. The ring game used to be *really* soft, but they've tightened up a bit lately. I play enough that I recognize the new names immediately, and the new guys are almost invariably fish. Usually players who tried HE, got killed, and are trying out PLO8 with their last few bucks without an understanding of proper strategy.
