pokerroom 40K hand
I have AKo in bb and am 17th of about 300 left, well above average in chips - my count is 22000 (tied for chip lead at my table)
UTG has 22000 also and raises 3xbb to 1200 folds around to sb who pushes with 8500. is this an obvious fold from the big with AKo or should i consider reraising to isolate and have some dead money in the pot. my read on both villians is that they are solid experienced players. thanks theDetroitKid |

Re: pokerroom 40K hand
my first instinct is to fold because i dont want to put all my chips at risk with what is likely a race at best. however if i can isolate with dead money in the pot it could be a option, but the i would be HOPING that one of my opponents doesnt have AA or KK

Re: pokerroom 40K hand
What is the other big stack doing? Is he open raising alot of hands or waiting for monsters? Is he a good player or a gambler, or a tight/weak? Is he going to check it down with you to eliminate the player after the flop or try to get it heads up? If you push, he's only going to call with AA or KK. I like smoothcalling here. You are giving the UTG a good price to call you with hands you dominate, like AQ, AJ, KQ, and giving yourself a chance to get away if he pushes. AK is too good of a hand to throw away here, even at the late stages of the tourney.

Re: pokerroom 40K hand
Fold, and I dont think its close. If they are both solid and experianced, you cant think that SB will push with 8500 with AQ, so you are at best a coinflip against him, that in addition to the chances that one of them has AA/KK makes it a fold.

I learned not to risk my stack in these marginal situations from this hand
