proper buy in for tourneys
i know about 300BB for limit, 20 X buyins for no limit. What is the correct bankroll for tourneys? thanks in advance...

i would imagine it would be more than 20 X buyins (due to higher variance), but you'd probably get a better answer from STT/MTT.
edit: STT faq for stt, it says 20-30 buyins is considered enough for low limits, and 50-100 buyins for higher limits. |

In the past I have read a 100 buy ins, but it depends if you plan to satellite into the bigger ones I guess.

I use the following rules of thumb:
Limit 500BB NL 40x max buyin SNG's buyin = no more than 2% of total role, 1% normally MTT's - I have heard from several sources that a 5% per buyin of total bankroll is adequate. I don't know though, I don't play MTT's regularly. I have heard they can be exceptionally swingy. Note my practices concerning bankroll fall into the ultra conservative category.
