My biggest misconception of HOLDEM is how everyone thinks AK is a MONSTER! I think its a nice hand but if people are raising and re-raising I'm tossing it. This hand has gotten me in more trouble than any other hand (other than AQ)

Overrated? Maybe.
Misplayed. Often. AK, (suited or not), seems to be one of the most often misplayed hands that I see. It's one of those hands that can become a Monster with the right flop but can also be very hard to get away from when the flop doesn't hit. I think that NL games allow us play our AK very aggressively and avoid getting beaten by draws, small/middle pairs, etc. since we can use a wager to protect the hand but it can really be a killer in a Limit game or tourney since it's much harder to move someone off of a hand, especially at the smaller stakes levels. (This reply has been brought to you by the "I Like To State The Obvious" Society. Will someone give me a Dope Slap?) |

My biggest misconception of NO LIMIT HOLDEM is how everyone thinks AK is a MONSTER! [/ QUOTE ] FYP. It's more of a misplayed than overrated hand. Playing some limit HE will help you a lot with it. |
