This poll pertains to a situation in a recent thread (5-10 River Scare).
You are playing in a 5-10 NL game, online with a normal range of stacks (all around 1000), 10-handed. You are dealt JJ in the SB and have no real reads. There are 4 limpers to you. What is your most common play? |

For the most part, I like a call.
It's unlikey that a raise will take down the pot PF with this many limpers unless you raise huge, and then, you are playing a very vulnerable hand OOP in a raised pot. Just limping, and playing almost exclusively for set value, check folding any overcards, and play it like TPTK if you flop an overpair. Plus, people will never be able to put you on JJ, and you might get payed off huge if you flop a set. |

Playing JJ for set value is bad imo. JJ is just too strong to play for set value. You're going to want to isolate some bad limper that calls a big raise. If you aren't raising JJ out of the blinds, what ARE you raising? I always like to raise MORE out of the blinds than if I were to raise on the button or something, because you have to make your opponents pay more to have position on you, IMO.

I started the original thread. I think calling can be right a lot of the time, depending on the game, but I now think that raising around 7-8xBB is the correct play. Try to make the pot heads-up/3-handed with a hand as strong as this. Raising to something like 40-50 is the worst option.
I've only been playing NL for about 3 weeks, so take anything I say with a grain of salt. DN |

I assume you haven't voted since you advocated so hard for making it $40 to go in the original thread. Seems to me by your rationale, everyone who has voted is either retarded or doesn't know how to play post-flop?

[/ QUOTE ]hi. i didnt argue to make it 40... i said it was ok. of course i didnt vote... this poll is dumb. there a million things that factor into my decision in this spot. most of the time i raise somewhere between 3 and 12BB... i never fold. |

I bump it to about 80. I play 6-max though, so my 10-handed play may be less than optimal.
