I would be interested in your PT stats for hands where you raised 2nd in w/ baby PPs. You may be showing a little +EV but you are not showing "big profits" with this play.

[/ QUOTE ]

if you read the original hand post you'd notice that that OP is on the button vs a late position limper and a tight player in the sb. its not like i'm isolating from UTG+1 vs loose blinds.

exactly how is this statement ridiculous? by outplaying people postflop i don't mean having to push people of their hands, i mean not getting stuck in crappy situations postflop while they will. again i understand if you wouldn't do it, but i have been doing it and showing big profits with it too.

[/ QUOTE ]

OK, that makes more sense then. I thought when you said outplay them postflop, that you were suggesting you could push them off of a hand.

I will raise this hand on the button as well, especially with one limper, but not in this scenario.

But when you describe "big profits", surely you mean to apply it to more situations than specifically raising a late position limper from the button with tight blinds. I'm assuming that you don't have the millions of hands it would take to know if you're making big profits with that specific play and, if you did have the millions of hands, that you hadn't actually done the work to analyze such a specific situation.

By the way, any chance of you answering the other questions I posed, which would give much more insight into why you make big profits with this play? Can you describe how your postflop play makes up for the BB you're committing PF?

OK, I took a few seconds and really wanted to raise, but I called. There have been good arguements both ways, so I'm still not sure if I did the right thing, but here's the rest of preflop, and the flop.

Wynn 4/8 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is Button with 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
4 folds, MP3 calls, 1 fold, Hero calls, Nit doesn't complete, BB checks.

Flop: (3.5 SB) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB checks, MP3 bets, Hero?

[/ QUOTE ]

The Wynn's hand converter rules. It really IS the best poker room in Vegas.

I called preflop to play on a safish flop. I figured this was a pretty good flop for my hand, after my flop play, I figured I had to bet the turn and take the free showdown. Here's the rest of the hand.

Wynn 4/8 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is Button with 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
4 folds, MP3 calls, 1 fold, Hero calls, Nit doesn't complete, BB checks.

Flop: (3.5 SB) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB checks, MP3 bets, Hero raises, BB folds, MP3 calls.

Turn: (~4 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
MP3 checks, Hero bets, MP3 calls.

River: (~6 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
MP3 checks, Hero checks.

Final Pot: ~6 BB

yeah, i agree, i would just toss it, the pot is tiny and the board is drawless...

i was talking to gamingMouse about this in vegas, i don't like making moves at older people...this sounds weird, but from what i've seen older people that play low limit poker are loose/passive for the most part, i don't think you will ever be up against a worse hand here, even against something like QJ you aren't much of a favorite (but most people wouldn't lead with this kind of hand)...

the pot is so small that i dont' think its worth putting another bet and a half or two bets to show it down against a most likely straight forward player who was in the blind...

I agree with this a lot, especially if they're the kind that short buys all of the time. He's not folding a T, and there's no way he folds a pocket pair.

Now, of course, you'll post the results and prove us wrong.

I don't think you're good 1/3 of the time here. But since you did choose to continue this certainly seems best...get to showdown for as little as possible.

This hand took place at the Wynn 4/8. The table is new and this is like the fifth hand so there are no reads. BB is some dude, and MP3 is a middle-aged guy wearing a skipper hat and has a comically-large pipe in his mouth, if that helps you get a read at all. The SB is your boy, jason_t.

Street by street if you're down.

I'm not sure, but I know calling sucks. Since Jason_T is a nit, you'll likley fold him out so a raise seems cool.
