Bellagio 10/20 NLHE. I buy in for $2000. Immediately I see that it is a very loose/aggressive game, with raises to $120 preflop and multiway action.
About the fifth hand after I sit down, I get 8d3d in the BB. Several limpers. Flop is Jd5d8, giving me middle-pair-plus-flush-draw. I check, an early-position limpers bets $60, and a woman on the button calls. I call. The turn is the 6d, making my flush. I check, the early limper bets $80, the woman calls. I check raise to $300 straight. The guy quickly calls, then the woman goes all in for $2000 more. I try to get the woman to talk, but she doesn't say anything. “Do you have a big hand?” I ask. Now the other guy in the hand pipes up, “Ya think? There’s a flush out there, straight out there…” So I'm pretty sure I have him beat, but I still didn’t know about the woman. I have about $1700 left and they both have me covered... what to do... |

Are your opponents really horrible enough that they won't know exactly what you have when you checkraise that turn card?

The only hand your beating here is Ad J. You might as well have turned your cards face up the way you played the hand. Check call on the flop and then check raise the flush when it hit. The woman must know you hit the flush and she is telling you the flush doesn't scare her. I think she could possibly be semi bluffing with the Ace of diamonds thinking she can push you off a small flush but are you willing to put your stack in to find out. I would reluctantly fold.

if you have enough money to lose your stack and not go on tilt, call... if not, fold

Hi Roswell,
Well, this is probably not a sophisticated bluff with the dry Ace. In the vast majority of cases, it's the nuts. She just called his $80, so she wasn't too concerned with another heart sliding off. Now she reraises you 1700 more? You're toast. I'd like your play on the turn if you had nothing. |
