Dell notebook out of warranty
Is there anyway to get service after the warranty expires?
my monitor gets all shaky and fuzzy but it still works if i balance it on my leg just right. I am hoping it is just a loose wire or something, but I am not about to crack it open to look. Is it worth getting something like this fixed, or is it going to be too expensive??? |

Re: Dell notebook out of warranty
There is probably a dell certified repair shop in your area. Look in the phonebook. That's a good place to start.

Re: Dell notebook out of warranty
it could very well be the flex cable, which is not a big deal and shouldn't cost much to repair. if you need to replace the screen, throw it in the garbage because you might as well buy a new one. i bet it's the flex cable though...i had problems with it on my dell laptop and know many others with dells that had problems with it.

Dell will still probably service it.

Re: Dell notebook out of warranty
Definately try to find a local Dell servicer. That way you can get a diagnosis and estimate before you spend much money. Sending to Dell will also work, but you spend bucks to maybe find out it isn't worth getting fixed.

Re: Dell notebook out of warranty
Depending on your state, the implied warranty of merchantability may cover the replacement or repair of your item providing you purchased it new from a regular company like BestBuy.
Most likely after sending a demand letter you would have to go to small claims court. Assuming your notebook is not older than the average expected life of the product you should win. |
