Default Stealing a pot with 43o

I've only been at the table for a bit, but MP1 has played uber-tight, MP3 very loose-passive.

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
2 folds, MP1 calls, 1 fold, MP3 calls, 3 folds, Hero checks.

Flop: (3.50 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero checks, MP1 bets, MP3 folds, Hero calls.

Turn: (2.75 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, MP1 bets, Hero raises

Once MP3 bailed on the flop, I thought I saw a chance to steal this from MP1 by raising the turn. My plan was to dump it if 3-bet.

Thoughts?

It looks to me like you were playing with fire.

MP1 only needed a 6,7,9, [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] or overpair to make calling your raise worthwhile. Thats 19 cards plus some other combinations, which was more than 1 third of the remaining deck.

Also your steal would have to be successful slightly more often than 1 in 3 times to be profitable. So I dont think that the odds were in your favour.

Finally, I also think that a lot depended on just how good your read for MP1 being super-tight was.

I really would just fold that on the flop. the pot is small. you have a crappy hand on a scary board, and the villan seems to like his hand enough to bet out.

Hmmm, I have bottom pair no kicker on a 3flush flop and an uber-tight player has bet into me on the flop and turn. I think I'm going to fold here......

Kind of a big play, in that you're risking 2 BB to win 3.75. Don't know if it seems worth it. If opponent is that tight, wouldn't he be betting at least one diamond at that flop? if so it seems unlikely he will fold. Again it seems like a big risk relative to the size of the pot.

bwahahahahahahahahahaha!

Yeah. I think my wife put something in my coffee this morning. But, it worked! The tight-ass em-eff-er folded to the turn raise.

what range of better hands does he fold to your check-raise?

what range of better hands would he fold if you simply bet the turn?
