Pitiful river action
The table is a stable full of donkeys and as you'll soon find out that includes me. This river action is pitiful. I no longer have the nuts on the river but I really shouldn't fear them either. What would you bet on this river? (As an aside, I was really hoping someone with a naked 4 would raise me on the turn.)
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ Hero (6 max, 5 handed) converter Hero ($213.35) UTG ($172) MP ($89.95) Button ($250.9) SB ($35.7) Preflop: Hero is BB with 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $1. <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, MP calls $2, Button calls $2, SB (poster) completes, Hero checks. Flop: ($8) 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font> SB checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $5</font>, MP calls $5, Button calls $5, SB calls $5. Turn: ($28) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font> SB checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $20</font>, MP calls $20, Button calls $20, Hero calls $8.70, MP calls $8.70, Button calls $8.70. River: ($114.10) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font> Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">MP bets $5</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Button raises to $15</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $40</font>, MP calls $35, Button calls $25. Final Pot: $234.10 I wanted to include results in the original post. Everyone had a 4 for a 6 high straight so MHIG. |

Re: Pitiful river action
I think you certainly left some money on the table, but overall played this well. NH.

Once I go for a check raise I think I definitely need to push more. But the small bet and the small raise REALLY threw me off stride. I need to get better at coming up with my plan in advance as the hand develops. Just thought it was kind of a weird hand. |

Re: Pitiful river action
With the flush draw out on the turn (you never know..) and the possibility that someone made a lower straight, I'd bet
closer to the pot (if they're both calling 20, they're calling 25-28). Then I'd raise more on the river, perhaps 55-60 because I think there's value to be extracted from these stations (ok, maybe we can't call an opponent holding a straight a "station", but still, it's gonna be hard for someone holding a 4 to put you on 4-7 exactly and proceed to let go of his hand once the pot gets that big and he went that far with it). |

Re: Pitiful river action
After button reraises, type in: "You've got a 4, but have you got a 7?" and push all in.
Works a treat. |

Re: Pitiful river action
You can easily make it $65 or $70 and get paid off on the river. Considering what they had, you probably could haave pushed.
