Except in some Tunica games.

Where is the rock used in Tunica? I've seen several people mention it being used there, but I've never seen it myself.

The "rock" I was thinking of was this. Whoever wins a pot, posts the blinds in the next hand. Therefore, you could theoretically fold every hand pre-flop except AA and never lose a dollar (because you would never post a blind). Also, stealing blinds is useless since you would just end up posting those blinds on the very next hand.

The rock as I have played it with the Dude (and a gaggle of 2+2ers) some months ago was a forced UTG straddle. It was not at all as you described it, do you have a link to an article that describes the rock you are familiar with Dynasty?

It's in one of Mason's essay books. He'd chew me out if I reproduced it on the site.

1, 2 or 3? I'll have to get a copy, I'm intrigued. I can only get the first one locally, I was planning on getting the other two next trip to Vegas.

The rock does rule, but we were never able to get it going during my last Vegas trip.

Maybe I just didn't play enough "overnight" action.

I will have to see if anybody is up to playing with the rock locally. Nothing like 4 in the morning nobody cares about winning 3/6.

The game Mason described ("leave-it-in rock game") was a variant on the normal rock game, where the rock was straddled every hand by whoever won the last hand, instead of waiting for utg position. As Mason points out, this effectively becomes another blind. There were still normal blinds in addition to the any-position straddle each hand.

What exactly is " the rock " for?
I've seen a table in my room use an actual rock instead of chips and rubber bands, but I didnt ask what it was. I figured someone bet their card cover
