New Computer for Poker - help please
So my current computer is too old to handle poker. I want to get a new computer but keep everything else from my current setup.
I will use this computer mainly for multitabling poker (8 tables) with 2 monitors (I already have videocards, monitors, etc.) and listening to music. I don't know too much about computers I was wondering what everyone thought about this one: Dell Dimension 8400 CPU - 3.0 GHz Pentium 4 Memory - 512 mb, do I need 1 GB? Hard drive - 160 GB, not enough? Would another computer/brand be significantly better? Also, I was planning on buying this through eBay. Is that a mistake? Thanks for the help guys, JKratzer |

Re: New Computer for Poker - help please
My computer is less than half as powerful and works just fine for me. The only thing that is slow is PT, but I think that is slow no matter what...

[1GB probably best for PV and PT purposes] Hard drive - 160 GB, not enough? [more than you need, but the seek time/speed is important] Would another computer/brand be significantly better? Also, I was planning on buying this through eBay. Is that a mistake? [i suggest just getting a great coupon via dell, dont do anything for less than 25% off] Thanks for the help guys, JKratzer [/ QUOTE ] |

Go for the 1GB RAM.. not because you really need it for a poker computer. Rather, it would be really embarassing for you if your friends dropped in and saw your brand new 2006 BWM fitted training wheels. |

eBay??
I'll go with the 1GB of ram per the suggestions. I looked at the dell website but the packages they offer include a monitor, keyboard, etc. I don't need any of that and it would just cost me more I think. I was looking at ebay as a default way of getting the computer, does anyone have better suggestions for me getting the computer I want w/o the extras that I already have? Any strong reasons to not order off of ebay?
Once again, thanks for the input, JKratzer |
