This is my first hand at the table, and I probably could have milked at least 1 more bet out by checking turn, +EV?

That's fine imo, don't let him draw a flush for free.

i bet this turn every time. I think you're losing $$$ long term by checking. a lot of the time you will get called by top pair, middle pair, draws, etc..

Looks fine to me, I don't want him to river a flush or straight on me without paying.

there's an argument for just calling preflop, but I would bet the turn in a heartbeat.

I thought the 3 bet PF was a nobrainer, get crap like QJ, QT, etc to fold to 2 cold hopefully... I cant be behind to any of the limpers, so why not 3 bet and isolate?

I would 3 bet, but calling can be argued as it sets you up for a protection raise on a favorable flop.

I very strongly advocate just calling pre-flop because it guarantees to put yourself in a profitable situation. You're almost surely going to be getting about 7:1 pot odds for a 7.5:1 chance of flopping a set of better. In other words, you're essentially being offered an even money proposition to hit your set with the incentive of collecting all of the additional bets afterwards if you hit. That sounds like a great deal to me! And as DMBFan23 said, we still reserve the right to raise the SB on the flop and protect our hand if we miss our set but still catch a favorable flop.
