Default hotel recommendations for WSOP?

Hi all,

I am looking for a cheap/semi-cheap hotel/motel walking distance from the Rio. Any recommendations? Mainly, I am looking for some names of hotels/motels close to the Rio. It's such a hassle looking for the darn addresses on a vegas city map...

Thanks, Erd.

wow that is a real far drive..have you ever considered a raft..CHECK FOR HOLES!.also just to let you know i live in western kansas and next year when im 21, i would seriously consider just sleeping in my car. so it didnt sound that rediculous to me.But what would be really cool is if they got a bunch of hippy poker players who qualified in sattelites out of san fransisco to live in a commune( A big Volkswagon Van)and then they all suspiciously made the final table..... losing to dan harrington.

"walking distance" is a key phrase here, as i have no idea how far you consider acceptable.

the only hotels on that corner are the Rio, the Palms, and the Gold Coast. neither the palms or the gold coast have too many rooms, so you may already be out of luck there, as i'm sure the rio is pretty un-attainable as well.

after that you're hiking a bit. across the freeway and probably somewhere around a 3/4 mile hike you will find the stip casinos located on Flamingo & LVB. these are bally's, bellagio, flamingo hilton, caesars palace, paris, and the imperial palace. the ip will be the only cheap one i'm sure. maybe flamingo. (barbary coast is on this corner too...but has something like 200 hotel rooms.)

after that you are straight hiking bro...everything else gets further out from there. harrah's has a shuttle that goes to and from the rio, and it's on the other side of imperial palace, so i'd walk there and ride if you stay down on the strip...since it will be june and a mile plus walk outside in vegas will SUCK.

best of luck to ya.

vegas parking is free virtually everywhere except downtown.

the rio, the palms, and the gold coast all have free parking in easy walking distance of the tournament site. (if of course you're serious).

the good news is that there's NO WAY you'll be cold at night sleeping in your car. the bad news is, it's going to be so warm you will be hurting anyone sitting next to you by the second day due to your lack of a shower.

Thanks a lot for the tips.

I called the Harrahs, they only let me stay for 28 nights. Hotel policy. Thats actually long compared to the other hotels on the strip, they have a max stay of 10-14 nights. How weird.

Anyway, thanks again. I am still looking but got a bit closer...

Erd.

The problem with long time stays is that they become landlord/tenant relationships. Then they have to go to court and evict you as opposed to just cancelling your reservation.
