i\'ve never played B&M poker...
but i'm rearing to go. i play limit micro, at a bunch of sites, up to $1/$2.
i dont' want to talk about my results, b/c that's not what i want the discussion to be about. my question is: in the chicago area (or other non vegas places), what's the quality of the 3/6 game compared to the levels i've been playing online? i know i don't have the bankroll to play 3/6 regularly, but would feel better about playing it live if i knew that the games were really soft. discuss? |

They're probably softer than you thought they could be.

Re: i\'ve never played B&M poker...
Go and watch from the rail for 15 minutes, and if you feel comfortable buyin for $150. Chances are half the table will be too drunk to realize you are a tight player - the other half think that Ax offsuit is playable from any position. After your session, take your buyin and your 1 BB/hour and put it in your underwear drawer, repeat as necessary. You're on the road to 10/20. Good luck! -Matt |

I don't know about the chicago area, but 2/4 and 4/8 games at Foxwoods and in AC are looser than party .50/1.

Have fun. Focus on playing the best you can. Don't get your hopes up that you will do much better than breakeven. The rake is a killer.

my question is: in the chicago area (or other non vegas places), what's the quality of the 3/6 game compared to the levels i've been playing online? [/ QUOTE ] At Trump, IN: the 3/6 plays like the .5/1-1/2 on Party the 6/12 plays like the Party 2/4 and the 10/20 plays like the Party 3/6. At Harrahs, IN: the 5/10 plays like the .5/1-1/2 on Party I've only played the 10/20 at Harrah's a couple times, so I can't draw any real conclusions (but its loose). I agree with the suggestion that you watch for 15 minutes and then buy in if you are comfortable. If you are a winning player (even marginally so) online at the limits you state, then you should do fine in this game. And the rake is a killer. If you decide to try out either Trump or Harrahs, PM me and I'll try to meet up. -Ash |

Any baby NLH advice/info for Chicago area pokerooms? [/ QUOTE ] I haven't played in the Harrah's game in quite some time, so no advice there. The baby game at Trump ($200 max, $2/5 blinds) is usually very soft. The big game ($400 min, $5/10 blinds) also has a bunch of soft spots, but I am under-bankrolled for that game at present. [/ QUOTE ] I'll put something together sometime in April. -Ash |
