you bet and you take it down. but that's you. you have a horseshoe up your ass right now. theyre scared of you, they fold top pair when you checkraise middle pair. i used to bet too when i was playing 1-2 and kicking butt all over the place, now im check-folding because im playing 5-10 online like you were. we need to sync up here and end up at the same higher limit table somehow and have some laughs. maybe in 2007?

i agree. youre not gonna get a pocket pair to fold the flop, and a gutshot will likely call as well.

i dont like stabbing at the turn. i dont think youll get TT, JJ or KK to fold

You wouldn't fold TT, JJ, or KK there? I would deeply consider it.

I did bet at the pot, fully thinking that Doc would fold KK or JJ/TT, and I figure that he would always do this.

Doc ended up raising (!), and the spook three bet. I quickly folded and Doc pondered for a long time, and then he folded. Before he mucked, he let me peek at his AK.

The spook got really upset and rolled his QQ for quads. I felt like a doof for betting at the pot at the time, since I was almost certain that I walked into a trap.

My check on the flop was pretty automatic for me there. If anything, I think that my line gets me MORE information than any flop action would have. Maybe we should discuss this more since I seem to be so contrarian about it. Thanks for all the thoughts.

Thanks for the kind(?) words, my friend. You'll make it back, I'm sure. If I can do it, anyone can. I'll get down to Commerce and show you how it's done someday soon.

my feeling about betting the flop is that, as i stated earlier, if you plan to be a turn if checked around, then it makes more sense to bet the flop. if you dont plan on doing anything other than folding then checking the flop is exactly what you should do...just be sure NOT to bet the turn.

honestly i think i still bet the flop here a good deal of the time and fold to the raise.

I haven't read the thread yet, but where the hell is this 100-200?
Checked through - someone has a monster 99%
of the time! Or is this the weekest lineup ever and they can't bet KK JJ in position!

I can't see how betting the flop is anything but psycho!
You are going to get raised or called 100% of the time and then what. Check and fold, this cannot be +ev.
I will read on and try to figure this one out, I am very confused!

So your standard line with a middle pocket pair when an ace and an overpair flop is to bet into the preflop 3-bettor and someone who called 3 cold? Just because if by some chance the flop gets checked around, you'll wish you had bet?

IME, someone will have an A a lot, someone with KK won't be scared too easily, and occasionally someone will have a Q. I realize the pot has gotten slightly big, but I just don't see this working out enough for a bet to be right.
