Huge amounts of self doubt during downswings...
I dont know if this is normal but every time I have a downswing I really begin to doubt my ability to play cards.
I have been playing rather seriously now for two years and every time I move up in limits or buy ins and have a downswing I begin to doubt myself and either move down or quit altogether again. I guess what I really could use is an experienced player who wouldnt mind looking at some of my hand histories to tell me if i am just experienceing a regular statistical downswing or if I just dont have the ability to keep up. Does anyone else have this problem and is there anyone out there who wouldnt mind looking at some hand histories and help me get over this (hopefully all in my head) problem? Thanks for the help and advice! |

Re: Huge amounts of self doubt during downswings...
I know exactly what you are talking about. I won about 800BB at 1-2 6 max withing about 25,000 hands and then lost about 125 BB in 10,000 hands and I felt like I was a horrible player and had no chance of winning. So I took a short break (about a week) and came back and started playing sit and go's. I played the sit and go's about 90% of the time but I played about 1,000 hands a week to try to get my confidence back. Also I would tend to wait to play during bonuses for the extra confidence of winning that bonus money while playing. Just take your time and getting your hh's reviewed would also probably help a ton. I hope this helped a little.
