OK, there's no way Ivey is playing to high for himself because he's got the biggest roll of all of them. And also, cold cards aren't going to affect these guys at all. In that game it's not about the cards. [/ QUOTE ] You can't outplay someone who's holding the nuts |

Re: The \"Big Game\" Bankrolls and EV
[ QUOTE ]
Two of Daniel Negreanu's recent blogs talk about the big game. On one day this was the lineup: Seat 1: Chip Reese Seat 2: Phil Ivey Seat 3 Johnny Chan Seat 4: Negreanu Seat 5: Gus Hansen Seat 6: Lee Salem Seat 7: Doyle Brunson Seat 8: Chau Giang and the next day this was it: Seat One: Negreanu Seat Two: Johnny Chan Seat Three: Chau Giang Seat Four: Phil Ivey Seat Five: Lee Salem Seat Six: Chip Reese (followed by Gus Hansen) Seat Seven: Lyle Berman Seat Eight: Doyle Brunson [/ QUOTE ] So my question is...... who plays in these games besides the top 10-15 pros in the world? I've heard about super whales like Andy Beal that fly in sometimes but what about normal days? Seems that these guys would be passing the same money around to each other 90% of the time. How much money do you think Chip and Doyle have passed between each other over the past 20- 30 years? Oh, another question... Todd Brunson plays there alot too correct?? I'm assuming he can hang with 'em or he wouldn't play but does he play anywhere else? Tourneys? Cash games? regards, Tim |

I heard Ivey made 20 million last year. In Gordon's book, he mentions a pro made 20+ million last year so probably Ivey. [/ QUOTE ] I made 2000 BB last year. |

You can't outplay someone who's holding the nuts [/ QUOTE ] Sure you can. You check and fold. At bare minimum, you played just as well as your opponent. |

Re: The \"Big Game\" Bankrolls and EV
When playing a mixed game, sure it makes sense for your NL game to have smaller blinds than you limit?
Say the big game switched to $750/1500 for NL. Now they can player proper deep stacked poker, which is much better. It also equlaises the importance of the various games, which is surely one of the main purposes of a mixed game. |
