Default scare card on the river - bet or check?

3rd or 4th hand on this table. I know the player to my right is very loose, but that's about it.

I feel pretty good about this until 5th street. I checked it. Should I have bet?

Ultimate Bet 0.50/1 Hold'em (5 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is Button with 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
MP calls, Hero calls, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (4 SB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, MP checks, Hero bets, SB calls, BB folds, UTG calls, MP calls.

Turn: (4 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players)
SB checks, UTG checks, MP checks, Hero bets, SB calls, UTG calls, MP calls.

River: (8 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players)

Final Pot: 8 BB

A2 more than 67. Player to my right plays A-anything regularly.

You're missing out on too many value bets on the river if you check to any card that completes any draw.

More reason to value bet since if he's loose he's more likely to hold a hand you beat than specifically A2.

I would definatly bet this.

Question: should I call if my bet was raised?

I think you should call. It's offering you 10-1...so only 10% of the time do you have to have the best hand to show a profit?

If you're check-raised here, you're good less than 10% of the time. Given that, I still have a hard time folding.

i think you've gotta bet here... i would... i'm not gonna give someone credit for rivering a straight for no reason...

if you get raised... well... it's still not the straight i'm afraid of... but more like A9 or some crappy 2-pair... though no matter what i'm still gonna call that last bet...
