BB hand #2
This time, I'm in poor position, and before the river wanted to check/call, check/call, bet. Is what I did instead OK, or should i just bet out on flop/turn and try to take it down? River a good bet? Villian is TAP pf, aggresive post flop.

Re: BB hand #2
I think the river check is fine. A TAGs range of UTG limping hands would frequently include an Ace, Jack or medium pocket pair. What else could he have, KQ, QT?
If you bet, I doubt he calls with anything you beat. |

Is what I did instead OK, or should i just bet out on flop/turn and try to take it down? [/ QUOTE ]I'm NOT a great heads-up player, but I'd think that a (crummy) middle pair is enough to bet-out heads-up, especially if the opponent didn't raise preflop. Your hand's not gonna get any better as overcards fall, so I'd try to take it on the flop. That'd change the rest of the hand, when you see him react. On the other hand, it's a teeny tiny itty bitty pot, so maybe you should just give it up. I don't know. Just taking hit after hit, hoping your 4 holds-up seems faint-hearted. -Sam |

Re: BB hand #2
I think it's safe to say that you should lead middle pair on the flop 100% of the time when your pair is < J. If it's >= J then you might have CR possibilities.

Re: BB hand #2
Bet the flop. This is not the time to check/call.

Re: BB hand #2
Thanks for the replies. Looking back, betting the flop seems like the best route. Fold to a flop raise?
Heads up play not my forte... |

Fold to a flop raise? [/ QUOTE ] Because it's head's up it is very dependent on your opponent so I hate recommending that you fold to the flop raise, but yes, with this exact board I think you can fold to a flop raise as your opponent will often require a Jack or a medium pocket pair to continue playing. |

Bet the flop, fold to a raise.
