Folding AA
Right now I'm in the middle of a 4 billion BB downturn (ok, ok, not quite but you know how I feel).
I've tightened up to compensate and this hand came up as part of it. I was gutted at the time and it played on my mind afterwards. I knew I was beat at the turn, and quite badly too. Was I right to fold or was I wrong ? Reads : SB is TPA, MP1 is a fish. Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (10 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is UTG with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Hero raises, UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 folds, MP3 folds, CO folds, Button folds, SB calls, BB calls. Flop: (8 SB) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players) SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets, MP1 calls, SB calls, BB folds. Turn: (5.50 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, Hero bets, MP1 calls, SB raises, Hero folds, MP1 calls. River: (10.50 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) SB bets, MP1 calls. Final Pot: 12.50 BB Results in white below: SB has Js Td (full house, jacks full of tens). MP1 has 6h 6c (flush, ace high). Outcome: SB wins 12.50 BB. |

Re: Folding AA
Looks fine to me. Calling his check-raise on the turn is a big mistake against most opponents at this level, and you were in fact correct in your read.
Just because you would have hit your 2-outer on the river (which you weren't getting anywhere near good enough odds to draw to) doens't mean you made a bad fold. In fact, you should be congratulating yourself for making a good fold, since most people aren't able to lay down AA ever. |
