Default Being gay is NOT a choice

Seriously, use a little logic here. Why would anyone knowingly CHOOSE to subject themselves to a life of ridicule, ostracization, oppression, and demeanment?

Have you read some of Woolygimp's posts on this board? Ask him why people set themselves up for ridicule

The alternative doesn't make things more pleasant, though. If being gay is a birth defect, then why don't we work for a cure?

Well, if it's a "defect" in the same way as being 5'8" instead of 6'4", how are we going to start looking?

Default Engaging in homosexual acts is definitely a choice.

Engaging in homosexual acts is definitely a choice.

We are men, not animals, and are conscious of what we do.

Nobody is born with perfect instincts, even if such a thing exists. I may want to have sex with your grandmother, but that doesn't mean I can't choose to refrain.

I think it is mostly nature and part nurture. I often wonder though if homosexuality becomes so socially acceptable that no more closet homosexuals procreate, won't the "gay gene" eventually die out through natural selection.

I assume that this is a gross oversimplification on my part.

People knowingly do a lot of dumb things. That doesn't mean they shouldn't try to do better.

If society's roles were different (i.e. bizzaro world) and being gay was the norm, would you either abstain from heterosexual sex (because you have such strong control over your sexual choices) or have gay sex like everyone else?

One interesting point in all this is the fact that (and I'm talkinng about Sweden here, probably the same in other places) there were virtually no gay men in the 1600- and 1700-hundreds. You'll have to take my word for it, but it is true, the reason we know is that we had a fair amount of men executed for bestiality (and they where "guilty" in the sense that they did actually have sex with animals) but none for gay sex, which was also a capital offence at the time. I realise that my argument here is not complete, but trust me, this is the case, it's to space and timeconsuming to go over the full history here.

Why this was so is open for debate, but trust me on the fact, or at least do some reaserch on the subject before debunking me
